Having grown up with the earliest personal computers, I've had a passion for software for almost my entire life. And with a degree in Business/Accounting and experience working in government finance at the county level, I've had the opportunity to understand first-hand how software — and more importantly the data behind the software — can impact our quality of life at work.
I founded Simpler Systems with a premise: that the technology we create is fundamentally an expression of our values. For more than 20 years, I have been designing and building software that empowers people to use data to develop deeper insights into the organizations they work for and with.
Through data, we can search for and discover connections between things that at first glance did not seem to be connected. We can organize and categorize the world in ways that express a common perspective. And we can develop new ways of sharing that allow others to see what previously only we could see.

I enjoy the opportunity to connect with our users. They possess a broad spectrum of skillsets and backgrounds — executives, managers, analysts, developers, and more. And I really like to see how the software I develop helps such a diverse group users be more creative and engaged within their own organizations. I strive to make software that is just as elegant internally as it is externally by utilizing the latest technology, following sound design principles, and staying true to the principle that simpler is better.
Since 2002, I have collaborated with Rick on the development of the Simpler platform that powers all of our solutions. My B.S. degree in Computer Science gives me a perspective on how to engineer quality software. But my engagement with a wide range of enterprise applications and data is what fuels my passion for constant learning and finding solutions for problems that haven’t yet been recognized.

I know from personal experience that using data effectively requires having not only a level of skill with the tools you use to interact with data, but also having the knowledge of what that data means. I've also seen how the level of complexity of modern software makes it challenging to become proficient with both.
So I love how the Simpler platform, and the solutions we've developed on top of it, take the technical skills out of the equation. I am now able to help domain experts work with data without having to spend valuable time learning tools. The result is more room for innovation and collaboration with folks who do have the technology skills (but may not know the domain).
Prior to joining Simpler Systems, I spent six years working at the state government level on a complex technology project. My roles included financial analysis, reporting, and contracts and project management. That experience, along with a degree in Business and Information Systems, gives me a true appreciation of the powerful and accessible software that Simpler Systems has developed to navigate and understand data.
